79-year-old man kidnapped at gunpoint in Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) – Tuscaloosa police say two men were arrested and charged in connection with an Thursday night kidnapping and robbery. Tuscaloosa police spokesman Sgt. Dale Phillips says the incident happened around 11 p.m. Thursday night on McFarland Boulevard East.

Phillips says a 79-year-old man was kidnapped at gunpoint and driven to Bibb County. The victim escaped and called for help.

The two suspects, Joshua Cameron and Chirag Patel, were arrested after a short car chase just up the road from where the victim’s vehicle was found.

Patel is charged with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree robbery and first-degree theft of property. He was taken to the Tuscaloosa County Jail on bonds totaling $150,000.

Cameron faces the same charges and is being held in Bibb County.

Phillips says Cameron was also responsible for a shooting being investigated by Woodstock Police.
