TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT)- A vehicle collision early Sunday morning led to the arrest of 21-year-old Alabama football player Jarran Kentrel Reed.
Sgt. Brent Blankley says a Tuscaloosa officer observed Reed’s 2011 White Dodge Charger backing out of a parking space at the same time as another vehicle in the City Fest parking lot. The vehicles ran into each other and the driver of the Charger drove off to try to exit the parking lot.
The officer then went over to Reed and instructed him to stop the car. “The officer made contact with the driver of the vehicle and immediately smelled the odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle,” according to Blankley.
Reed was given a Standardized Field Sobriety Test. His Blood Alcohol Content was 0.13%- the legal limit is 0.08%.
Reed was arrested for driving under the influence and transported to the Tuscaloosa County Jail where he was held for sobriety. His bond is set for $1,000.
Reed is the latest Alabama football player to be arrested in the last eight days in Tuscaloosa. Kenyan Drake was arrested last Saturday for obstructing governmental operations after trying to retrieve his vehicle in a roped off police area following a shooting at Kennedy’s Bar.
