BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum’s book comes out August 5th and in it, some interesting facts about Nick Saban’s choice to return to Alabama. According to the book, Texas would’ve paid Saban a $15 million dollar signing bonus and a $100 million dollar salary.
Instead, Saban stayed loyal to the Tide faithful and renewed his contract at Alabama for $6.9 million, a contract that runs through January of 2022.
The Longhorns decided on Louisville’s Charlie Strong. Strong didn’t get as much love as Saban. His salary sitting at just $5 million a year over the next 5 years.
In January, Texas hired Louisville’s Charlie Strong to replace Mack Brown as the head coach of the Longhorns. Strong’s contract will pay him $5 million a year, plus bonuses, over the next five years, according to multiple reports.
