TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) – Law enforcement officials in Tuscaloosa County are searching for a murder suspect following a fatal shooting that happened at the Motel 6 on East McFarland Boulevard.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department received a call of a shooting around 1:40 a.m. Sunday. Once they arrived, officers found a male victim inside his vehicle that crashed into bushes at the entrance of the motel parking lot. The victim, 21-year-old Jamarcus Marquez Roberts, was treated at the scene for a single gunshot wound to the chest and transported to DCH-ED but died from his injuries.

Police determined that the shooting may have stemmed from an earlier incident after talking to witnesses. Officials are looking for 21-year-old Skyler Pierre Hinton who they believe was involved in a conflict with the victim.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Hinton. He’s being charged with Murder and Shooting Into An Occupied Vehicle.
