Trial begins for man charged in 2012 quintuple homicide

ENSLEY, Ala. (WIAT) – The first of three capital murder trials began Monday for the shooting deaths of five Ensley men in 2012.

Artavius Underwood was 16 years old when he was charged in what police describe as execution style murders. He and two other suspects, Reginald Mims and Rashad Stoves, were teenagers at the time of the murders.

They were each denied youthful offender status.

All are being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
