Alabama senator plans to test fluid leaking from Cullman mausoleum

CULLMAN, Ala. (WIAT) – A state senator is heading up plans to test a mysterious fluid that has been leaking from a Cullman mausoleum.

The tests on the fluid could be performed this week, weather permitting. The leak was first noticed in late May.

Senator Paul Bussman wants to find out if the fluid is hazardous. A test performed by a county health official in June confirmed the substance is not sewage.

Cullman Memory Gardens has been under the control of the Alabama Department of Insurance since the property’s original owner filed for bankruptcy.
