BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – The Birmingham Board of Education met Tuesday, but the meeting was short and to the point. The board had three items on the agenda – one dealing with personnel issues, another with meeting dates and times, and lastly the approval of Superintendent Craig Witherspoon’s contract.
The first two were unanimous, however, the vote on the two-year contract extension was not. Instead, there was one “no” vote.
The board continued to meet after the vote in a special called work session to have presentations on school operations and athletics.
