CLAY, Ala. (WIAT) – On July 22, surveillance video captured what appears to be three teen boys breaking into the John Williamson Boys and Girls Club on Old Springville Road in Clay.
Daryl Rogers, Vice President of Operations at the location, says it’s the second summer in a row the club has been burglarized.
“When you’re in a non-profit you don’t have money sitting around to replace this. We’re doing something for the community and trying to better and help parents and help their children. When you steal from them, you’re stealing from the whole community and that’s what bothers me the most.”
According to Rogers, the teens were on the property for about 12 minutes.
After jumping a fence from a neighboring grocery store, they can be seen wandering around checking for an unlocked door. Eventually, they broke a window and opened a door from the inside.
The trio made off with five video game consoles and accessories. They included: three Xbox 360’s, a Play Station 3 and Wii.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
