FORKLAND, Ala. (WIAT) – Derrick Biggs, the Mayor of Forkland turned himself into local authorities on Wednesday.
Last week warrants for his arrest were issued but Biggs was not at home when Greene County sheriff’s deputies went to serve him. He allegedly informed the deputies that he would turn himself in on Saturday. Investigator Hubert Finch told WIAT 42 in a previous report that Biggs simply didn’t show up then.
The Greene County Sheriff’s Office obtained warrants for Biggs’ arrest on charges of first-degree theft and tampering with government records after town officials noticed discrepancies in Forkland Water Department deposits made by the mayor.
WIAT 42 will have more on tonight on WIAT 42 News at 5 and 6.
