CALHOUN COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) – A mysterious explosion in Calhoun County Wednesday evening blew out windows, caused some damage and is under investigation, according to Calhoun County Chief Deputy Matthew Wade.

Wade says the explosion happened between 6:15 and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening in the Angel community, but reports of the explosion were taken from around the county.

Some reports indicate the explosion caused damage, such as broken windows in a home near the blast area, Wade says.

Wade says investigators have leads to who may have been responsible for the blast. It’s unclear at this time if anything criminal occurred, but Wade says investigators do not believe it was.
