BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – The race for District 2 seat on the Jefferson County Commission is ongoing as Shelia Smoot and incumbent Sandra Little Brown have been battling for the position.
Now, a voter is contesting the results. Ervin Hill claims an inadequate amount of absentee ballots were counted.
Sixty provisional ballots were counted Tuesday. While Smoot did get five more votes in that county, it wasn’t enough to push Brown out of her seat.
A committee has been appointed to hear the complaint, and a final decision is expected next week.
