Woman shot in the arm in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – UPDATE: Birmingham police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards says Club Onyx was not involved in the shooting. The shooting took place on the 800 block of 7th Street West.

Edwards says the woman’s brother was involved in a feud with some neighbors. The woman was caught in the crossfire and hit in the arm.

ORIGINAL: A woman was shot in the arm when a group of men opened fire near Club Onyx in Birmingham Thursday evening. Birmingham police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards says a young woman and a young man were at the club when a group of men starting shooting.

However the owner of the club says the shooting happened outside the establishment not inside the bar.

The woman was shot in the arm, and the man she was with tried to drive her to the hospital for treatment. When he could not find the hospital, he came to Birmingham Police Department Headquarters on 1st Avenue North.

Edwards says police called medics for the woman and transported her to UAB Hospital for treatment.
