Suspect in Pleasant Grove shooting still at large

PLEASANT GROVE, Ala. (WIAT) – UPDATE: Police are searching for Jerrian Redrick, 22, in connection with the shooting of Lorenzo Dates, 22, early Wednesday morning. Dates was taken to UAB for surgery and is now currently in the ICU.  Anyone with information is asked to call Pleasant Grove Police 744-1735.

ORIGINAL: Police are investigating a shooting in the Pleasant Grove area early Tuesday morning. Police tell us one man was shot once by his own cousin. He has been transported to the hospital and is listed in critical condition.

The Pleasant Grove Police Chief spoke with WIAT 42 about the shooting. He said the suspects are 2 brothers who are cousins of the victim. Police on the scene believe a fight started among the men inside a home off of Smithfield Forest Drive. The fight then moved outside where one suspect allegedly shot the victim.

The victim went across the street and knocked on a neighbor’s door. The two suspects ran off.  Police are searching for them now. They say the suspects should be considered armed and dangerous.
