The plane, which is a Piper PA-32 aircraft, according to the FAA, was carrying four people — a husband, wife, their son and his girlfriend. The four were coming back from vacation in Panama City and were heading home to Dickson, Tennessee.
Helena Police Department Sgt. Chris Rollan says the passengers aboard the plane were Dan Smith, Sharon Smith, Andy Smith and a 17-year-old female. Dan Smith and the 17-year-old female are listed in good condition at UAB Hospital. Sharon Smith and Andy Smith are listed in serious condition.
FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says the flight departed from Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport in Panama City and was on its way to Dickson Municipal Airport.
The plane’s engine reportedly quit, leading to the crash. All four people aboard the plane sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment.
An eyewitness tells WIAT 42 News the plane was completely engulfed in flames.
