Silver Comet Trail attack leads to push for more security measures

ANNISTON, Ala. (WIAT) — Call boxes and security cameras may be needed to make a section of one of the nation’s longest paved trails between Anniston and Atlanta safer. A female jogger was attacked last week on the Silver Comet Trail outside of north Atlanta.

The jogger was severely beaten by her attacker. The incident took place near an area where a bicyclist was killed back in 2006. The sister of the 2006 victim is pressing to install the emergency call boxes.

County leaders in Georgia say they are considering their options.
