BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — A new trial date has been set for the man charged with opening fire on Birmingham Mayor William Bell’s security detail. Deandre Major was charged with attempted murder, but a mistrial was declared in the case last week.
He’ll now go to trial on January 26th. Major is accused of getting into a shootout with Mayor Bell’s security detail.
The shootout took place on I-20/59 in November of 2012.
Two people, who were in the car with Major, were injured, but neither the mayor, nor his entourage, were hurt in the attack.
