Cross-country cyclists pass through Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Cyclists are making their way across Alabama raising money for a rare genetic disorder. But the reason they are riding is different than the reason most cyclists.

They’re riding for Gabe Griffin, a child who is fighting a rare form of muscular dystrophy called Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

The cyclists started in Oregon, and their final destination is Mobile, Alabama. Friday was their thirty-eighth day on the road.

Griffin will throw out the first pitch Friday night at the Barons game, which is set to being at 7:05 p.m.
