BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The experimental Ebola drug, ZMapp, is en route to West Africa.
It’s the same serum that was used to treat the two American patients who contracted the virus in Liberia.
The company who manufactures ZMapp says they’ve now received a request from Liberia to treat the virus there, and the company has agreed to send it, free of charge.
The drug is considered experimental because it hasn’t been tested on humans, which is a requirement for FDA approval.
