Christopher Patton found guilty in 2012 beating death of elderly man

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) – The Tuscaloosa man charged in the beating death of a 79-year-old Northport man was found guilty of murder and criminal trespassing Thursday afternoon.

A jury found Christopher Patton guilty in the beating death of Kenneth McDaniel in July of 2012.

Patton told WIAT 42 News as he was taken into custody that there was no evidence in the case, yet he was still found guilty.

McDaniel was killed when Patton lured him outside by flipping the breaker on his air conditioning unit. When McDaniel made it outside, Patton beat him in the head with a lead pipe.

The judge has not set a date for Patton’s sentencing hearing.
