ORIGINAL: The search for a fisherman from Chilton County will resume early Sunday morning on the Coosa River. Rescuers spent most of the day Saturday looking for the man who fell into the river around noon.
Chilton County Sheriff Kevin Davis tells WIAT 42 News that a man fishing alone about 200 yards south of the Lay Dam fell from his boat and did not resurface. He was not wearing a life jacket.
Divers were in the water for several hours during the day and part of the evening.
Even though crews have called off the search for the night, some boats are shining lights into the river, hoping to get a reflection from the white shirt rescuers believe the man was wearing at the time of his disappearance.
Crews from around Central Alabama are taking part in the search, as well as the Alabama Marine Police.
