BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — As students prepare for a brand new school year, parents need to be preparing too. Both parents and kids need to be ready for the battle against germs.
It never fails, you send them off to school then weeks later, they come home with a bug. Pediatricians say it’s because schools are hot beds for germs. Places like the water fountain can be a breeding ground for diseases like the common cold. You can help cut some of that out by sending them to school with a water bottle and by encouraging frequent hand washing.
On the home-front, you can keep the germs at bay by making sure your student gets plenty of sleep. A child’s immune system can be recharged, getting about 10-hours of sleep a night
