Suspect charged in shooting on Belgium Avenue

WP_20140817_003BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — On Sunday evening Jefferson County deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 7400 block of Belgium Avenue in the Edgewater Community. They arrived to find 47-year-old Vincent Lamar Giddens of Mulga unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. Giddens was transported to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:49 pm.

A statement released from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office states 30-year-old Antonio Dewayne McIntosh returned to the scene and was identified as the person who had shot Giddens. He was taken into custody and questioned. McIntosh later admitted to shooting Giddens during an argument over a debt Giddens claimed was owed to him.

McIntosh was arrested and charged with murder. He posted $75,000 bond and was released from jail in the early hours of Monday morning.
