BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – A Georgia man was arrested in connection with a double homicide in Birmingham that took place over Labor Day weekend. Birmingham police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards said 27-year-old James Armstrong was arrested in his hometown of Conyers, Georgia, without incident.
The FBI worked with the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office to make the arrest.
Armstrong is a suspect in a double homicide that took place on Aug. 31 in the 900 block of Coosa Street.
Wilbert Hawkins, 47, and Steven Hicks, 48 were killed in the shooting, which took place outside a motorcycle club.
Armstrong is charged with capital murder and will be held without bond. He’s currently in the Rockdale County Jail and will be extradited to Jefferson County.
