PIEDMONT, Ala. (WIAT) — Some east Alabama workers may have to pay more for their health insurance. The Piedmont City Council says the increase is a result of an overall increase by the city’s carrier.
While the city hopes to absorb some of the cost they won’t be able to handle it all. Individuals can expect to pay up to $20 extra and families, upward $100.
Piedmont isn’t the only municipality forced to raise premiums in the past few months. In August Birmingham voted to raise overall premiums for retiree plans. The increase went into effect September 1st.
