HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT) – One person was killed in an early morning homicide in the Ross Bridge area of Hoover, according to the Hoover Police Department.
Hoover police spokesman Capt. Gregg Rector says the shooting happened at the Marriott Renaissance Ross Bridge Golf Resort and Spa early Tuesday morning. Rector says an employee found a victim lying in a ground floor corridor near the resort’s kitchen and loading dock.
Rector says he victim has been identified as 36-year-old Jose Raul Cardenas-Ramirez. He was a supervisor working for an Atlanta-based hospitality staffing company.
“We can confirm there was an incident involving a death at the resort. As soon as we became aware of the matter we immediately contacted the Hoover Police Department,” said Bill Lang with the Mariott Renaissance Ross Bridge Golf Resort and Spa.
Rector says the Cardenas-Ramirez doing janitorial work at the resort. His body was found by an employee in an “employees only” area of the resort.
“We are assisting the police with their investigation. The safety and security of our guests and associates is a top priority at Marriott,” Lang said.
It’s unclear at this time when the victim was shot. Hoover police say no arrests have been made in the case and the investigation is ongoing.
