Police: Three dead including shooter at UPS Customer Service Center

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Birmingham Police have confirmed three people are dead, including the shooter, at the UPS location on Inglenook Lane where police responded to reports earlier of an active shooter in the area.

Officers were called to the UPS Customer Service Center on Inglenook Lane shortly after 9 am.

Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper just finished addressing the media on Tuesday’s incident. Roper says patrol units were among the first to respond to the location where multiple employees immediately exited the facility.

Once inside police located 3 people dead, including the shooter who was wearing a UPS uniform. It appears all the deceased are UPS employees.

Police do not know what motivated the shooting. Several witnesses will be transported so police can receive their statements.

Shooter suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

WIAT 42 is on the scene and will continue to bring you the latest information when it becomes available.
