BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Police responded to a call from an ALEA Conservation Officer on the 15000 block of Romulus Road Friday afternoon. The call was in regards to an unattended child in the middle of the road.
Police found took the four-year-old into custody and went to the residence to locate the parent. After several knocks, the mother, 24-year-old Tammy Morgan came to the door visibly inebriated. She stated that she had been asleep inside the house.
Deputies contact DHR and investigators with the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division who responded to the scene.
DHR placed the child and two siblings with the grandparents.
Morgan was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and was booked in Tuscaloosa County Jail.
