Big Oak Ranch celebrates 40 years of service

GADSDEN, Ala. (WIAT) — Big Oak Ranch is celebrating 40 years of service. The organization, located in Etowah County, committed to helping abused and neglected children has rescued more than 1,000 children since its beginning in 1974.

The ranch offers shelter, education, and a family for abandoned and abused children. Owner John Croyle is now making the ranch a family affair. His son Brodie and daughter Reagan are joining the family business.

“The children of Big Oak Ranch have always had a special place in my heart,” says John, “and I think moving forward all three of us will continue to do and if that is building another 10 homes we will do it.”

The home also serves as a transition home for young adults to work while attending college full time.
