MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – The memorial service for longtime Alabama Education Association leader Paul Hubbert is planned Saturday in Montgomery.

A spokeswoman for AEA says the family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. Friday at Heritage Funeral Home in Montgomery. The memorial service will be at noon Saturday at the Montgomery Performing Arts Center.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Paul and Ann Hubbert Endowed Scholarship at the University of Alabama, the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts or the Jackson Hospital Foundation.

Hubbert served as AEA’s executive secretary for more than 42 years. He died Tuesday at a Montgomery hospital. He was 78.
