WARRIOR, Ala. (WIAT) – Authorities in Warrior are on the scene of an officer-involved shooting. The incident reportedly happened on Star View Lane. Warrior Mayor Johnny Ragland says the officer was not injured in the shooting.
He says the officer was punched in the face a couple of times and is bruised. Ragland says the officer was not seriously hurt but was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Nichrien Smith told WIAT 42 News his brother, Adam Madison, was the man shot.
Smith said Madison was driving through Warrior on his way to Trafford, when Warrior Police pulled him over. Smith said Madison called him and said he needed help, and that was the last he heard from his brother.
“(Police) didn’t release no (sic) information to us,” Smith said. “(Madison) was laying somewhere in the woods back here, somewhere… My mom said he probably had to be dead because he was just there for too long.”
The State Bureau of Investigation is handling the investigation.
Ragland and members of the Warrior City Council are planning a press conference on the shooting. It is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday.
