PHENIX CITY, Ala. (WIAT) – A teacher in Phenix City, Alabama, is on paid leave for 21 days, which is the incubation period for Ebola. School leaders in Phenix City say the decision was made out of an abundance of caution.
The Central High School teacher was on the same plane as Ebola patient Amber Vinson. However, the teacher flew on the plane the day after Vinson took her flight.
Phenix City officials say the plane was thoroughly cleaned before the teacher’s flight. At this time, the teacher does not have any symptoms of the virus.
The school board sent home a letter to parents ensuring them that there was no risk of exposure to the teacher, students, faculty or staff.
