BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – Two men were arrested and charged in the death of a 26-year-old Birmingham man.
Birmingham police spokesman Lt. Sean Edwards says Steven Dunning, 22, and Roderick Robinson, 28, were arrested Monday and charged with capital murder. The two men are charged in the death of Vincent Chancellor.
Edwards says Dunning is under police guard at UAB Hospital while he recovers from injuries sustained during the incident.
Edwards says officers responded to reports of a shooting Sunday morning in the 700 block of Second Avenue North.
Chancellor was found sitting inside his car suffering from two gunshot wounds to his leg. He was taken to UAB Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Edwards says the shooting occurred during a robbery attempt. Chancellor and his girlfriend had left Club Platinum and were getting into their car when they were approached by a black male who demanded money.
Chancellor got a gun from his car and the two men exchanged gunfire. Dunning was taken to UAB Hospital to be treated for multiple gunshot wounds.
Both Dunning and Robinson are being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
