DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. (WIAT) – A 63-year-old DeKalb County man was arrested on child sex abuse charges following a joint investigation with authorities and the Alabama Department of Human Resources.
Roger Dale Harcrow was arrested on Nov. 7 and charged with eight counts of sex abuse of a child less than 12 years old, according to DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris.
Harris says the investigation began on Nov. 5 when officers were called to the Sylvania Police Department to investigate a reported rape.
The victim and family were taken from DeKalb Regional Medical Center to Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham.
Harris says Harcrow was interviewed on Friday and arrested.
“This has been a difficult weekend for the victim and her family. I’m glad we were able to get this suspect in custody quickly due to the tremendous anger at his actions,” Harris said in a news release. “Everyone worked great together and this case will go to the grand jury soon.”
Harcrow is being held in the DeKalb County Detention Center pending bond.
