Missing Bessemer man found dead in a pond

BESSEMER, Ala. (WIAT) — The body of a man found in a Bessemer 4th Avenue North pond has been identified by the Jefferson County Coroner’s office as 25-year-old Curtis Andrew McCall. He was reported missing on Tuesday, Nov. 4.

Police say McCall’s body was discovered around 10:15 a.m. by a fisherman who found him close to the fishing dock.

McCall’s cousin, Dennis Jenkins, says the family is trying to come to grips with the sudden loss.

“It’s a hard thing to deal with. We are just coping with it and we are going to make it. We just got to keep God first,” Jenkins said.

In the missing persons report, McCall was described as depressed.

Investigators are waiting to hear from the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on the official cause of death.
