TALLADEGA, Ala. (WIAT) – A woman’s body was found near Jackson Shoals, an area close to the Talladega SuperSpeedway.
The family of Theresa Benn tell WIAT 42 that it is the body of Benn, who went missing in late October. But the Lincoln Police tell WIAT 42 that the identity of the body has not yet been identified.

The Lincoln Police Chief, Darren Britton, has released the following statement on Saturday’s discovery:
On this date at approximately 1:00 pm, searchers located the body of a white female in the Jackson Shoals area of Choccolocco Creek. Positive identification of the body will be determined by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences pending their forensic investigation.
The search was conducted and coordinated by Lincoln Police in conjunction with Texas Equusearch in hopes of locating Theresa Benn, a local woman missing since October 19, 2014. Volunteers from Texas Equusearch, members of the community as well as off duty personnel from Lincoln Fire and Rescue, Etowah County Search and Rescue, Talladega County Sheriff’s Office, Talladega County DTF, and Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, took part in the search. The Lincoln Police Department would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all those who helped in the search.
Benn was last seen in the early morning hours of Oct. 19. The intersection where Benn was last seen is about two-and-a-half miles from the Talladega Superspeedway.
She was reported missing around 7:30 p.m. that day, according to police.
