Man and woman pronounced dead after two-vehicle crash

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — A Bessemer man and woman have been pronounced dead after a two-vehicle crash Saturday evening.

Fred Douglas Smith, 73, was ejected from the ATV he was operating after being struck by a 2007 Cadillac Escalade. His passenger, Judith Pascoe Smith, 60, also was thrown from the vehicle.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Escalade was not injured, however, according to Trooper Curtis Summerville.

The accident occurred in Greene County, 27 miles north of Boligee.

Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
