BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – For many, New Year’s Day means binge watching some of the final college football games of the season. Some watch the games live in the stadium, from the comforts of their couch, or in the spirited atmosphere of a sports bar.
Buffalo Wild Wings off Highway 280 opened its doors a half hour early for football fans. By noon, the place was packed with both Auburn and Alabama fans ready for game day. Management says New Year’s Day is one of the busiest days for the staff.
Chris Jenkins says he has a special appreciation for football in Alabama.
“I moved here from Indiana and that’s a basketball state. Here, it is all about football. And it’s great. I love college football. And I’ve been here 18 years and jumped right on in,” said Jenkins.
Jim Harrison was the first person through in the door Thursday morning.
“It’s a good place for me and my friends to get together and have fun,” said Harrison.
Whether it’s Auburn or Alabama, hot wings or mild, win or lose, It is the spirit of the day that keeps these football fans happy.
