BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The forecast calls for rain for the Birmingham area on Saturday, but that’s not going to stop fans from enjoying the Birmingham Bowl at Legion Field.
A pep rally for the game was held on Friday at the BJCC due to the weather. But the rainy conditions aren’t dampening the enthusiasm of East Carolina and Florida fans.
“Oh yeah, rain or shine, we’re going…definitely, brought our ponchos…we’re ready,” says Florida Gators fan Tyler Horwitz, “both teams have to play in it. If it rains, both teams get wet. If it’s dry, both teams stay dry.”
Horwitz isn’t worried about the rain, he’s looking on the bright side. For instance he says he was able to beef up his autograph collection. So far, fans on both sides are staying up upbeat, both about the game and the host city. And one fan base, Florida or East Carolina, will be even more upbeat Saturday’s outcome.
The Birmingham Bowl kicks off at 11 am at Legion Field. Grab your poncho if you are heading to the game. Tickets are still available and run for around $50.
