One Team at a Time: Erwin Middle School football

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – The football team at Erwin Middle School are rather snazzy dressers.

“It comes from our principal, Kalvin Eaton,” said Erwin football coach Grady Griffin. “He asked us when he first got here, ‘Coach, I want us in shirt and tie.’ Business mind frame to take your business on Thursday night, and that’s what you see today.”

That professional approach is how Griffin deals with his team day in and day out.

“What we try to do here at Erwin is develop young men with positive young minds with football,” Griffin said. “Football and life go hand in hand. There’s success and failure with the game and with life.”

WIAT 42 and Hibbett Sports thought the Eagles would be a perfect recipient of this week’s One Team at a Time award.

The Eagles were presented with $1,000 worth of football and practice gear, which will go a long way in helping the Eagles prepare for another great season.”
