Bessemer police arrest suspect in string of robberies

BESSEMER, Ala. (WIAT) – One man was arrested Monday in connection with a string of robberies in Bessemer, according to Bessemer police.

Sgt. Cortice Miles says Montez Fann, 31, was arrested and charged with three counts of first-degree robbery.

Miles says Fann was armed with handgun when he allegedly robbed two gas stations and a McDonald’s on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. Fann is accused of robbing the Sunoco on 9th Avenue North on Jan. 31.

Miles says Fann then robbed the Kangaroo Express on Academy Drive on Feb. 1 and then robbed the McDonald’s on Easter Valley Road just 15 minutes later.

He was taken into custody at a home in Ensley and is being held in the Bessemer City Jail on $180,000 bond.
