One killed in officer-involved shooting in Hoover

HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT) – One person was shot and killed during an officer-involved shooting at a home in Hoover Tuesday evening.

Hoover Police Department Captain Gregg Rector says an altercation between an armed man and two police officers led to shots being fired. The armed man was killed.

Rector says officers initially responded to reports of a domestic disturbance around 5:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they were unable to find anyone on the scene, though neighbors say they saw vehicles leave.

Rector says officers located vehicles at Shades Mountain Plaza around 6 p.m. Officers believe all four people left.

Witnesses indicated that one of the females was suffering from minor injuries.

Rector says that’s when officers went to the house and found the armed man. It’s unclear what led to the altercation, but Rector says the armed man drew his gun and officers fired shots.
