UAB supporters travel to Montgomery on Tuesday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WIAT) – Last December UAB ended their football program, along with the bowling and rifle programs as well. On Tuesday a group of Free UAB supporters are heading to Montgomery to make their voices heard. They’re rallying on the steps of the state capitol building.

They are also there to support several bills sponsored by state representative Jack Williams. Those bills include restoring UAB’s football, bowling and rifle teams. They also include restructuring the University of Alabama system board of trustees, allowing UAB to break away from both the University of Alabama and the University of Alabama Huntsville.

The proposed restructured arrangement of board members would be 5 members from UAB, 5 from UAH, and 5 from Tuscaloosa.
