137th annual Easter Egg Roll takes place at White House

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WIAT) — No Easter Monday would be complete without the annual White House Easter egg roll. This is the 137th year for the event.

This year’s theme ties in with the five year anniversary of Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign. The theme was “Gimme Five,” and the children were asked to identify five ways they plan to be more active and live healthier lives.

President Barack Obama encouraged the children to get moving by playing basketball and tennis. He also took some time out from all the action to read his favorite book, “Where the Wild Things Are.”
