One fatality in Tuscaloosa collision early Monday

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — A 2004 GMC Sierra and 2009 Peterbilt tanker collided near Tuscaloosa early on Monday causing one fatality in the accident.

Barry Wayne Brown, 50 was the driver of the GMC Sierra and was pronounced dead at the scene. Brown was not wearing his seatbelt according to the Alabama State Trooopers’ Office. Johnnie Ray Leonard of Tuscaloosa, 58, was the driver of the Peterbilt and was not injured.

The crash occurred on Alabama 69 near the 171 mile marker, 20 miles north of Northport at 6:20 a.m.

The accident is still under investigation. WIAT 42 will bring the most up to date information when it becomes available.
