HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT) – Brandi Hicks, former employee of the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, has been arrested.
Hicks, 30, of Odenville has been arrested on counts of trafficking in heroine, trafficking in cocaine and theft of property 1st and 2nd degrees.
The Hoover Police Department was notified on February 24 that a theft occurred at the Birmingham Regional Laboratory of the ADFS, where Hicks was employed. A routine inventory of the evidence vault reveal that numerous items of drug chemistry were missing.
After Hoover detectives conducted multiple interviews, Hicks, an ADFS Evidence Technician became the primary suspect in the investigation.
Hicks was transported to the Hoover City Jail after her arrest on April 1 and later was transferred to the Shelby County Jail, where she remains. Bond is set at $2,045,000.
