MONTEVALLO, Ala. (WIAT) — Technology is helping some Montevallo Elementary students with disabilities learn and grow.
Their teacher, Mrs. Meka Smith, told WIAT that classroom technology keeps her students’ attention.
For 10 years, special education teacher Smith has been watching and helping her students grow.
“I fell right into it, I can’t see myself doing anything else,” said Smith.
In today’s classroom, technology plays a key role. Mrs. Smith works hard to learn using technology as a tool to teach other skills.
“So you really have to look at each child and think about what their needs are what, their strengths are, how I can best help them succeed to the level that they need to be at,” Smith said.
Thanks to the One Class at a Time grant, Mrs. Smith plans to expand her classroom technology.
With a new SmartBoard, students can connect and learn in a way that’s comfortable and natural.
