Supper Club to close doors after 78 years

AUBURN, Ala. (WIAT) — After 78 years an Auburn landmark is closing its doors at the end of 2015. The War Eagle Supper Club, a popular location for students and alumni, will close on New Years Eve.

The news spread quickly within the Auburn family.

Owner John Brandt said he doesn’t want to close the Supper Club, but he has to. The land the club sits on is owned by a company who now wants to lease it at a higher price, one that Brandt can’t afford to pay.

The bar, which shuttles drinkers to and from its South College Street location is known for live music. Imaginably, emotions are running deep to those who hold the Supper Club close to their hearts.

The club owner is currently looking for a new location for the bar.
