Eric Price transported from hospital to Chilton Co. Jail

CLANTON, Ala. (WIAT) — Eric Heath Price, the 25-year-old man accused of shooting his wife, Leaj Jarvis Price, 24, inside a doctor’s office in Jemison Monday is now in jail.

Price was transported to the Chilton County Jail from UAB Hospital around 2 pm Tuesday afternoon. He had been at the hospital being treated for a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

He is now incarcerated on a murder charge, three counts and terrorist threats and is being held without bond.

Chilton County Sheriff, John Shearon, says tonight he will be staying in an 8 x 11 cell. Price went through processing as soon as he arrived at the jail.

“Once you are brought in, you are fingerprinted, your photograph is taken and you are actually booked in through the system. All your information is put in the computer. Once you get through all those steps than your place in a jail cell,” Shearon said.

Shearon said that Price will likely be placed in a medical pod of the jail.

“He will be segregated away from everybody else just for precautionary measures at this time until he’s able to go back to population,” said Shearon.

Once he is released into the general population, he will have a roommate in his cell.
