Talladega, AL (WIAT) – Dale Earnhardt Jr. holds the record for most consecutive wins at Talladega but it has been 11 years since he cruised into victory lane.
After leading 67 laps in Sunday’s Geico 500, he held off teammate Jimmie Johnson to claim his 6th career win at Talladega, something he feels his late father would be very proud of.
“We have a lot of supporters here because of dad’s success,” says Earnhardt..”He won so many races here. I think about all the races he won here and at Daytona and I love when we go to victory lane because I just feel like I add to his legacy there. All I ever want to do is make him proud and I feel like when we win at those tracks where he was successful, that’s exactly what we are doing.”
