ORIGINAL: Hoover police have confirmed a robbery occurred at the Shell Sunny Food Mart on Tuesday evening.

According to Captain Gregg Rector, two unknown black males allegedly robbed the Shell located at the corner of John Hawkins Parkway and Merchants Drive in Hoover.

The first suspect, armed with a handgun, was wearing a blue do-rag and blue bandanna covering his face and head. He had a tattoo on his forearm that appeared to spell “M O N E Y.”

The second suspect had a white shirt wrapped around his face and head. The news release states that he stole the cash drawer before the two suspects ran to the front parking lot.

Both suspects fled eastbound on John Hawkins Parkway. They were in a black newer model Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra crew cab pickup with a silver tool box. There appeared to be other occupants waiting inside the vehicle. Police report a possible partial tag number is “63BF2.”

Just before the robbery, a customer wearing a blue “Levi’s” shirt entered the store but did not purchase anything. The news release speculates that this individual may have been casing the business. However, it is not known if he was with the suspects or a possible witness.
